Let’s face it, trekking down to the gym to do the same old workout can be tough! For those of us in the northern hemisphere, winter’s drawing in and turning up cold and wet is not always conducive to a good workout.
We at Konkura think we’ve got the solution. Or rather, two solutions in one.
First, the element of competition. You don’t have to be a super-competitive athlete to find inspiration and motivation through competing with friends. Even those who hated competitive sport at school can, by finding or creating the right challenges and getting like-minded friends to take part, enjoy exercise more by trying to beat those friends. A bit of friendly encouragement, or even banter, goes a long way towards making a trip to the gym, a run round the park, or any other fitness activity something to look forward to rather than dread.
Then we have variety. It’s the spice of life! Sure, if you’re training for a particular sport or event you may be on a strict training schedule, in which case you can put that training schedule onto Konkura and use it week-in, week-out. But for those of us who are just trying to stay in shape, a bit of variation in our training is a good thing to keep it fresh.
So why not get on the site and try a new challenge today? If you normally do cardio, why not do some strength work for a change (our resident fitness guru, Steve Hoyles, would certainly encourage you – he’s a massive advocate of the fat-burning, metabolism-raising resistance training). If you normally focus on strength, see how you stack up with some cardio for a change.
You wouldn’t eat the same meal every day of the week (unless you’re our friend Stephen who had chips and beans every day at school and was still crazily fit because of working on his Dad’s farm!) So why not take an a la carte approach to your fitness?
