There is no denying Great Britain and the city of London sure know how to put on a display! From the fantastic opening ceremony to the magnificent sporting achievements, London 2012 has broken new boundaries in the eyes of many. At the forefront of it all has been
Team GB and their record-breaking medal haul. After a slow start which had many in the British public fearing an embarrassment, the medals began to flow. The flow was followed by a tidal wave of mythical proportions! Gold’s for Wiggins, Ennis, Farah, Rutherford, Hoy, Pendleton had the Queen frantically trying to book an extreme sports holiday during the next Honours List meeting at the Palace!
Team GB stormed up the medals table into third place, behind the super powers China and the USA. But these Olympics have not been all about Team GB. Michael Phelps became undoubtedly the greatest Olympian of all time with a medal haul bigger than most continents! The guy must have the World’s strongest neck! And then there was Bolt. The great man who runs like the wind has star quality from top to toe. Talk of a new track King were dismissed in a couple of huge strides – Yohan Blake relegated to a mere side note despite his mesmerising talent. 100m and 200m glory yet again, although no World Records this time. Surely Usain needs to
enter the Long Jump and 400m next!
So as this magnificent Games comes to an end, how would you rank the event alongside the Olympia of yester year? All at Team Konkura have been entertained, inspired and totally wowed by the quality, skill and competitive spirit of all involved.
